Short version: LensReader does not sell your data, does not track your browsing history, and does not store the content of pages you read. Clean reading is entirely local to your browser.
1. Overview
LensReader ("we", "our", or "us") operates the LensReader Chrome extension and the website at lensreader.pages.dev. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.
By installing the extension or using this website, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the extension and discontinue use of the website.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide the service.
| Data | When collected | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | When you create an account (paid plans) | Account authentication and billing |
| Passkey credential | When you register a passkey (Free plan) | Unlocking higher AI summary limits without a password |
| AI summary usage count | Each time you request an AI summary | Enforcing daily plan limits (fair use) |
| Subscription status | When you subscribe to a paid plan | Determining which features are available to you |
| Anonymous usage analytics | Website visits | Understanding aggregate feature usage (no personal identifiers) |
3. Data We Don't Collect
We explicitly do not collect:
- Your browsing history or the URLs of pages you visit
- The content of pages you read in clean reading mode
- Any text you highlight, select, or interact with on web pages
- Your IP address for tracking purposes
- Device fingerprinting data
- Data from pages behind paywalls or private accounts you access
Clean reading mode processes page content entirely within your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect strictly to:
- Authenticate your account and manage your subscription
- Enforce daily AI summary limits per plan
- Process payments securely (via our payment processor — see Third Parties below)
- Send transactional emails (e.g., receipts, password resets) — no marketing without consent
- Improve the product using anonymous, aggregated analytics
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the service.
5. AI Summaries
When you request an AI summary, the text content of the current page is sent to an AI inference API to generate a summary. This transmission is:
- Encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS
- Not stored on our servers after the summary is generated
- Not used to train AI models — we use zero data retention API tiers where available
- Not linked to your identity on the Free (anonymous) plan
Do not use the AI summary feature on pages containing sensitive personal, financial, or confidential information you would not want transmitted over the internet.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each subject to their own privacy policies:
- Stripe / Mercado Pago — payment processing. We never store full card numbers on our servers. Please review Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- AI inference provider — processes page text to generate summaries. Content is not retained or used for training.
- Cloudflare Pages — website hosting. Cloudflare may log standard HTTP access data per their Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data only as long as necessary:
- Account data — retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
- Usage counters — rolling daily windows; not stored beyond 90 days.
- Billing records — retained for up to 7 years as required by applicable law.
To request deletion of your account and data, email us at [email protected].
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Children's Privacy
LensReader is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify account holders by email at least 14 days in advance.
Your continued use of LensReader after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
